MERCEDES BENZ’S “ E ” SUPERLIGHT DEBUT IN 2015
MERCEDES BENZ’S “ E ” SUPERLIGHT DEBUT IN 2015
Pictures is only for demonstration.
Mercedes-Benz is rumoured to be working on an ultra-lightweight spin-off of its E-Class sedan, reportedly dubbed E Superlight, which will be ready for a production debut in 2015.
Expected to launch internationally in late 2015, the four-door E Superlight will take its styling cues from the F800 and F-125 concept cars, and may feature rear suicide doors and a B-pillarless design.
Carbon-fibre will feature prominently in its construction. Mercedes-Benz is apparently aiming for a kerb weight of just under 1300kg - around 350kg lighter than the current E-Class sedan.
The E Superlight's all-carbon chassis will also give it tremendous rigidity, meaning previously impractical features like pillarless rooflines and gullwing doors may also become a production reality.
A 125kW hydrogen fuel cell and 37kW electric powertrain are expected to be offered in the production E Superlight , however more traditional petrol, diesel and hybrid powertrains may also see service in the featherweight Benz.
Full technical details have yet to be officially announced though, and with the car's proposed launch date so far away don't expect any definitive stats to surface anytime soon.
Mercedes-Benz's aspirations for the E Superlight are reportedly quite modest, with only 20,000 sales targeted for the first full year of production - a fraction of current global E-Class volume.

DC DESIGNS GOING TO UNVEIL INDIA’S 1ST SUPERCAR
In 2012 AUTO EXPO - DELHI, DC Designs is hoping to not only become the newest successful supercar marquee but the first Indian supercar manufacturer.
The company currently specialises in producing a range of dubiously-styled bodykits for vehicles in the Indian domestic market, but is planning to wheel out its own supercar at this month's Dehli Auto Expo.
The as yet un-named subcontinental supercar will be powered by a turbocharged Honda V6, producing around 300kW.
Kerb weight is expected to sit around 1560kg, which is somewhat portly for a supercar with 300kW of power.
A production future is reportedly locked in for the car, with DC Designs planning to build some 300 units in India from late 2013, with the potential to increase production tenfold if the demand ever presents itself.
The price ?
Further details of DC Designs supercar will be revealed tomorrow at its official unveiling in Dehli, but for now enjoy this amusingly bold hyperbole snipped from the car's teaser website:
·
* A new era will dawn. Mere mortals will rise to the power of Gods.
·
* A machine will be revealed that will redefine the status-quo.
·
* The masters of automotive design will be renowned for one more legend.

Project Kahn's Stylish Take on the Range Rover Evoque
Project Kahn's Stylish Take on the Range Rover Evoque
The crew over at Project Kahn has finally got around to tricking out Land Rover's latest creation, the Range Rover Evoque, with a new package that takes care of both the exterior and interior of the compact crossover model.
For the outside, the British tuner proposes a new color scheme with a different color for the roof and matching details on the body such as the trim bits on the side vents and headlamps (in whatever color the customer wants), along with tinted windows, and a choice of alloy wheels designs in sizes 20- to 22-inches plus yellow painted brake calipers.
Moving on to the interior and even though we don’t get any pictures, Project Kahn says it offers far more individualization options.
Aside from aluminum pedals and a new touch screen sat nav, the tuner says it can apply a variety of materials in numerous colors on the seats, dashboard, headliner and door panels.

SUZUKI INAZUMA 250 COMING IN AUTO EXPO 2012
At the 2012 Indian Auto -Expo , Suzuki looks certain to finally take the plunge into the sub-250cc performance motorcycle segment. It has only recently unveiled the Inazuma 250 to the UK audience
The Inazuma 250's styling is inspired from the B-King (the Hayabusa-based monstrous naked, for those who don't recollect) and while the looks can be described as conservative at best, it's not one bit offensive. And then there's the small matter of those twin tailpipes – an India first, at least in the non-import class – which, despite the weight gain, is bound to become an instant hit with boy racers. While the front forks are, expectedly, conventional ( not upside down, that is ), the rear sports a monoshock and there's a disc each at the front and rear.
Technical specifications for the Suzuki Inazuma 250 have yet to be announced, so it’s not known whether it will differ much mechanically from the GW250. Visually, the GW250 & the Inazuma 250 are identical, drawing styling cues from the Suzuki B-King.
What we do know is the Inazuma 250 is powered by a new liquid-cooled SOHC parallel Twin engine with a six-speed transmission. Suzuki tuned the engine to optimize performance at low- and mid-range speeds, making it an appealing option for new riders in urban stop-and-go traffic.
Helping make the Inazuma 250 more newbie-friendly is a new instrument panel with gear indicator, service reminder and a three-mode RPM indicator which suggests when to change gears to optimize fuel economy or performance.
Pricing information has yet to be announced but the U.K.’s MCN reports Suzuki aims to undercut the Kawasaki Ninja 250R and Honda CBR250R.
