MAHINDRA LAUNCHED NEW FACELIFTED XYLO

MAHINDRA LAUNCHED NEW FACELIFTED XYLO

Mahindra has launched its new facelifted Xylo that features massive muscular restyled.
Exterior changes on the face-lifted model are apparent right up front with a spirited new front grille, the nicely curved bonnet and the newly styled headlights, which add instant flair to the new MUV’s forward stance. A closer look reveals sporty air dams, refreshing body decals, a lot more pronounced wheel arches and chrome-tipped body moulding - all tasteful cosmetic touches to a new generation model that will now look prettier when it hits the streets and gets down to doing its business of moving people around in comfort.

Panache would be an over the top term to describe the interiors of this revamped people mover, but certain style and utility elements are definitely worth mentioning. ‘New and style’ are almost complimentary to one another in the advent of new car launches. However, on the new Xylo where comfortable long distance commutes are in sync with the MUV’s distinct character, the integration of genuine leather upholstery, a 2-DIN music system, a two-tone dash, new door trims and a noticeable glossy, wood-finished console now add some further sheen to its interior feel and ambience.

‘Utility’ is the Xylo’s middle name and for this reason, Mahindra has made it a point to add some needy functional gear to the interior of this MUV, like individual AC vents for rear passengers, foldable snack trays for easy consumption of meals over long commutes, handy laptop and mobile charging points and some well thought out storage spaces will make life within the four walls of the car a lot less cluttered.

The new Xylo comes with three engine options to better suit your driving requirement. First up is the powerful mHawk engine that also does duty on the company’s Genio pick up range and its princely XUV5OO SUV model.  A torquey mEagle and a more refined and efficient mDI CRDe engine will also be on offer as optional drivetrains for the new Xylo. Packed with Dual SRS airbags, an Intellipark reverse assist system, ABS with EBD and Extra Stability Technology (offered as standard across variants) safety on the new Xylo is exemplary for this pedigree of vehicle.

But what really sets this car apart and puts it at the top of India’s multi-utility vehicle charts is the introduction of a fully-functional and state-of-the-art Voice Command Technology, which through simple audio commands can operate your headlights, lock/unlock your doors, open your fuel lid and even warn you when a safety lapse is detected. This feature will make life a lot easier for daily commuters, who would rather sit back and play boss, while the car performs all the menial opening and closing chores.

Priced at Rs 7.37 lakh for the base D2 variant (cheaper than the previous generation D2 model), the new Xylo will be sold in seven trim levels depending on the level of equipment you wish to pay for, with the highest sum of Rs 10.25 lakh fetching you the top of the line E9 variant.

PRICES OF THE NEW MAHINDRA XYLO

Variant                   Price (ex-showroom, Delhi)

D2                                    Rs 7.37 lakhs

D4                                    Rs 7.77 lakhs

E4                                    Rs 8.11 lakhs

E4 ABS                           Rs 8.34 lakhs

E8                                     Rs 9.1 lakhs

E8 ABS and airbags       Rs 9.47 lakhs

E9                                      Rs 10.25 lakhs

Mahindra plans to launch the new Xylo is two phases, starting with Delhi, Maharashtra, UP, Bihar, West Bengal, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, AP, TN, Kerala and Karnataka in Phase I followed by the rest of the country in its subsequent and final launch phase.

MAHINDRA NEW FACELIFTED XYLO FRONT –END IS SPIED

MAHINDRA NEW FACELIFTED XYLO
 FRONT –END IS SPIED

The front-end of Mahindra Xylo is spied today.it’s have some similarity to XUV500′s design language .

The transformation starts at the hood – redesigned using creases relocating to the sides. The bulge along the bonnet’s center has been flattened out. Subtle lines flow towards the center from either corners of the windshield.

The Xylo’s shiny grille takes a more little muscular & traditional approach sitting on the same level as the headlamps. It replaces the body-colored grille design that forms the shape of an arch. A slim louvre separates the grille and bumper.

Tiny indicators are placed on the bottom right corner. Mahindra will use the facelift’s launch to add a new variant “E9″.

This cosmetic operation has flushed out the funny taste you may get at the back of your mouth when you see a Xylo head-on. There is no doubt that the Xylo facelift outshines the current model on design appeal.

Mahindra Duro 2012

Coming soon: Facelifted Mahindra Duro

Powerscooter

Some time ago, India’s popular scooter brand-Kinetic- was sold to a manufacturer that was then known to build heavy duty SUVs and tractors. Kinetic became Mahindra 2 wheelers and that saw introduction of a few scooters that are still not spotted very frequently on our roads. What with Honda conquering it all with it’s competent offerings. Remember the Mahindra Duro? It has a body kit that is reminiscent of the Kinetic Nova and the 125cc motor is sourced from the Sym. To us, the then Mahindra Duro seemed to be a worthy claimant to the best VFM tag in its category. Sadly for Mahindra, the Duro doesn’t seem to have what it might take to dethrone the almighty Hondas.
We have concrete information that Mahindra Two Wheelers will launch the facelifted version of the Mahindra Duro Powerscooter as early as in December this year.

From what we have managed to figure out from the spy pics surfacing on the internet, there are a few minor changes that have been made by Mahindra to make the Duro have more visual appeal. The scooter has a curvier headlamp unit that manages to gel with otherwise quite a boxy design and gives the scooter a bit more upmarket look. The headlamp unit seems to be a bit of an evolution of the sister Rodeo’s unit.
On probing more into the pictures, we spotted a major change that may make the scooter ride much better than it presently does. Mahindra has finally gone for a set of new telescopic front shocks that replace the earlier unit link suspension. This simply means that the Duro will join the likes of the competent Suzuki Access 125 and the TVS Wego in offering a much needed and contemporary suspension set-up. We feel that all the automatics in this segment should boast of a set of telescopic shocks. Come to think of it, even the entry level TVS Scooty Pep+ sports these and as a result it makes me speak highly of its handling and ride.
The Mahindra Duro should soldier on with the 125cc four stroke engine that produces 8 Bhp of peak power and 9 Nm of peak torque. This may not sound much to us performance enthusiasts but it should be noted that this engine is also one of the more powerful units in its class.
Now, the question is if a mid life update can really make the Duro click and if it will attain the popularity Mahindra 2 wheelers wish it to attain. I personally feel that these little changes should had happened a lot earlier but then, it is never too late.
Watch this space for a complete review of the updated Mahindra Duro.
